In Africa, Mathematics, (along with other S T E M subjects) can open the way for new inventions from gifted students who exemplify  what Pliny first uttered in Ancient Rome ‘Africa always brings something new.’

 
Very often, teachers in rural areas have only the most basic skills and resources and have to use methods very different from those used in cities. The examples below were done for Maths Gr 1, 2 and 3. Initially beginning with counting games; moving on to multiplication; telling the time; ‘spotting the difference’ puzzles and measurement and estimation.
